Day 4:
The yacht leaves early in the morning for the reserve island of Nosy Ankazoberavina where you will come across plenty of sea turtles nesting on the beaches and lemurs roaming the forest. Guests can explore the island and snorkel along the coastline. After lunch, guests will be allowed to fish outside the limits of protected area.
The yacht will then visit Nosy Anchoa and Ankyvonjy within the archipelago; then continue the voyage to Russian Bay.
Day 5:
Departing late morning, the yacht will set sail for Nosy Iranja, the most distant island making up the Nosy Be archipelago, characterised by a white sandbar joining the two small major islands during low tide and its crystal clear waters. Guests can visit the lighthouse on the main island that offers a spectacular view of the entire coast. The night will be spent on the coast not far from Baramahay.
Mitsio Islands
The Mitsio Islands form a volcanic archipelago nearly 45 miles from Nosy Be. Of these islands, only one is inhabited – “the Big Mitsio”.
Day 1:
Guests board at the crater of Ambatoloaka, in Nosy-Be and head to the Mitsio Islands with lunch being served aboard. The yacht arrives late in the afternoon at “The 4 Brothers” – monoliths emerging from the sea on which a multitude of birds make their nests – to spend the night at “Big Mitsio”.
Day 2:
Spend the morning exploring Big Mitsio: take a stroll along the splendid beach of Ampasindava or go for a walk in a pachypodium forest while visiting remnants of the ancient Sakalava and Antankarana tribes. On the south-western end of the island, you can visit the “Organ Pipes”, a geological formation of black basalt. The yacht departs for Nosy Ankarea in the afternoon, an elevated basaltic island where a woodland path will take you to the top of a large rock to enjoy a breathtaking view of the archipelago, then head back to Big Mitsio for the night.
Day 3:
Depart for Nosy Lava, a volcanic island edged by rocks rising almost vertically from the sea, joined to the land by a sandbar, where you can visit the village of shark fishers. Lunch is served aboard and then journey to Nosy Antaly for the night.
Day 4:
Sail to Nosy Tsarabanjina, a splendid island bordered by white sandy beaches (its Malagasy name appropriately means “island of white sand”) where you will stay over for the night. Admire the rich vegetation of the island and visit a Sakalava cemetery built in a large cave.
Day 5:
Depart for Nosy Faly to arrive back in the late afternoon and sail back to Nosy Be that night.
Radama Islands
These are made up of 4 islands south of Nosy Be. The main island, named Kalakajoro, is home to a fishing village, and is known for its diving sites amongst the coral reefs surrounding it. Although it is now completely wild, in colonial times it served as a commercial stopover and had plantations of ylang-ylang, coconut trees and vanilla. During the independence war, some Malagasy patriots were transferred here to a penitentiary centre.
Day 1:
Embark at Ambatoloaka and depart for Nosy Ankazoberavina, a protected marine reserve, characterized by sea turtle nests on the beach and lemurs roaming the forest. Explore the island or go snorkelling in the morning. After lunch, visit Nosy Anchoa and Ankyvonjy in the archipelago before departing on a leisurely sail in direction of Russian Bay to stay over for the night.
Day 2:
Visit Nosy Iranja before sailing on to Radama’s archipelago, to enjoy the crystal clear waters and visit the lighthouse for breathtaking views. Stop over for the night on the nearby coast of Baramahay.
